Loraine (Lori) Kendall Derrick, 63, of Marshall, MI, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at her home in Marshall, MI. She was born January 17, 1959 in Flint, MI the daughter of Kenneth and Nancy (Curtis) Chard. Lori married Wayne Derrick on March 7, 1975 in Detroit, Michigan.
Lori spent her working career as a professional baker. Lori and Wayne owned and operated Crescent Lake Dairy Cream for eleven years. They then owned and operated four Cookie Factory Bakery franchises; before moving to Battle Creek and starting Michel’s Café and Bakery inside the Lakeview Square Mall. She also worked for Schuler’s Restaurant & Pub and Culver’s. Lori had a passion for living the country life. She enjoyed working around her farm, gardening, and tending to the animals. She loved spending time with and caring for her daughter Michelle. Lori was a wonderful person with a strong work ethic, and great sense of humor. She put her whole heart into her career and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband: Wayne T. Derrick; daughter: Michelle Derrick; her father: Kenneth (Teddy Golen) Chard; and brother: Jeff (Michelle) Chard, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother: Nancy Chard and her brother: Greg Chard.
Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 10 AM to 11 AM with a memorial service to immediately follow in the Bachman Chapel.
Cremation will be at the Oak Hill Crematory in Battle Creek, MI.
Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.
