Robert Lee Green, 77, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born October 27, 1943 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Freeman M. and Dorothy B. (Jones) Green. In December of 1987 he married Rebecca Sherwood in Oaho, Hawaii
Robert graduated from Howe Military Academy in 1962. He then joined the Marine Corps as a Military Police officer from 1965 until 1971. He then became an officer for the Battle Creek Police Department in 1972; where he served until his retirement in 1999 with the title of Detective Warrant Officer. While working for the Police Department Robert join the Army Reserves and was active from 1987 until his military retirement in 2003. Robert was a veteran of Desert Storm; as a CID Agent he provided support to the Tiger Brigade during the ground war as they entered Kuwait. He had a passion for cars and especially loved his corvettes. He loved going to car shows and spending time at Gilmore Car Museum.
He is survived by wife: Rebecca E. (Sherwood) Green, Battle Creek, MI; and two beloved nieces.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Freeman Green; his mother Dorothy Green; his sister Jackie Fessenden.
Cremation has taken place and a Committal will take place at Ft, Custer National Cemetery on Tuesday, May 25, at 11:30.
A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. Date and time will be published in the Battle Creek Shopper.
Memorial tributes may be made to the Humane Society and the Salvation Army.
