Obituary

Donald “Don” Wayne Garvison, 86, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday April 26, 2021. He was born Dec 11, 1934 in Battle Creek, MI to Elijah W. Garvison and Florence (Dodds) Garvison. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1953. Don was united in marriage to the love of his life, Diane G. Elliott on Oct 20, 1957. They were married 63 years. They also share the same birthdate.
Don worked at Kellogg Company in the Warehouse and retired after 38 years. He enjoyed hobby farming in his earlier years, raising chickens, hogs, and finished with cattle. He was an avid sportsman especially baseball, softball, basketball, and golf. Don enjoyed spending time with his wife and family traveling and camping. Don was a woodworker, self-taught, making bowls, lamps, furniture, and more. Don was a MP in the Army and a Rifle Marksman with Fort Bragg Rifle Team winning many awards. He was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. Don was affiliated with Cedar Creek Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife, Diane G. (Elliott) Garvison; daughters: Kim (Art) Coats, Dena (Tom) Worthington; and son, Steve (Tina) Garvison; grandchildren: Jason (Alesha) Coats, Lindsey (Cameron) Hobbs, Jeremy (Susie) Worthington, Autumn Garvison, and Austin Garvison; great grandchildren: Madison Coats, Braden Coats, Porter Worthington, Paige Hobbs, and is expecting 2 more; honorary grandson's: Alex and Nate Cornell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, June Funk; brother, Roy Garvison; and two grandchildren: Corey Worthington and Ryan Worthington.
Services to celebrate Don's life will take place on May 03, 2021 at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service at 1:00 PM with visitation starting one hour prior at 12:00 PM.
