Geraldine “Gerry” Ann Baker, age 83, of Battle Creek, passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born on November 18, 1937 in Seattle, WA. The daughter of Earl and Minnie (Esterbrook) Shumway.
Gerry was united in marriage to the love of her life, Thomas V. Baker and they spent 54 wonderful years together before his passing in 2016. Gerry graduated from Kellogg Community College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse at Leila Hospital as well as a few nursing homes in the Battle Creek and Marshall area.
Gerry enjoyed reading and gardening. Her Christian faith and love for Jesus Christ was very important to her. She was a dedicated nurse, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Gerry’s family meant the world to her.
She is survived by her children, Gerry (Karl) Pallada, Billie (Gary) Farris, Rebecca (Rob) Hughes, and Thomas A. Baker; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends, and her beloved cat, Tiger.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas; and grand-daughter, Ivy Barnes.
A Burial will be held at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 1:30pm.
