Obituary

James Ronald Evans, age 78, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away to join his wife and be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 3, 1942 the son of James P. Evans and Rose (Whitcomb) Bowman. James graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and attended Argubright Business College. He married the love of his life, Georgelyn “Jo” (Henckel) Evans on July 6, 1963 and lived happily in matrimony for nearly 54 years.

James was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. He was a hard worker who owned several Ben Franklin and variety stores before returning to real estate where he helped many in the Battle Creek community achieve their dream of owning their own home through land contracts. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything. He was a strong provider who always strived to make a better life for his family and created many lasting memories traveling the country with them. He will be missed dearly, and will forever be in our hearts.

James is survived by his daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Brown; son, James D. (Denise) Evans; grandchildren, Mikey and Travis Brown; Hannah, Sarah, and Caleb Evans; sister, Carol Adams; stepbrothers, Charles (Diane) Hobbs; Ed Hobbs; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgelyn “Jo”; his parents; stepbrother, George Hobbs; and brother-in-law, Paul Adams.

At this time, cremation has taken place and no services are being held. However, please feel free to leave a personal message or memory on the Memory Wall at www.bachmanhebble.com

Kim, Mike, Mikey, Travis, Jim & Denise & family, we just wanted to say how very sorry we are for your loss of your dad & grandpaw. It is very hard to comprehend the loss of someone who was as caring and full of love as Jim. Even though distance did not allow us to spend a lot of time together over the years, we do have many happy memories of times we did get to share and those times will always be memorable to us. We have very special memories of the time Jim and Jo came down and stayed with us for a week or two. Jim was a great man and loved all of his family very much. We certainly had a lot of admiration for Jim and he will forever be in our hearts and memories. We know Jim is at peace and at rest in his Heavenly home, but we also know that his Spirit will remain with you throughout all the days of your lives. God bless each and every one of you. We love you and are keeping each of you in our thoughts, our hearts and in our prayers.

You will be miss Jim. And thank you for helping my wife and I get our 1st home. We never thought it possible if it had not been for you. You will be missed. Rest in peace my friend.

Kim-
I was so blessed to have your parents in my life. Since we were seniors in H.S. , your parents always made us feel welcome in their home. When I was 32 , they adopted me when my mom passed away. You’re dad was the only man that brought flowers to me on every birthday (via your mom’s instructions 😀) until Dr. Chadwick retired. I sooo loved seeing him every year . My husband , Jim, had the honor of working beside your dad when he had been laid off his job- He too enjoyed working with your dad and he has alot of respect for him .
.He was a great man who raised a wonderful daughter too ❤️ May he rest in peace and be happy again being together with your mom. He will always be special to me..

Love
Jim and Becky Lynn
