Clara Josephine Ruth (Lahn) Mullen, 78, of Bellevue, passed away Friday, December 18, 2020 at Woodside Memory Care Assisted Living in Kalamazoo. She was born September 17, 1942 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Albert and Theresa Lahn. She married James Lee Mullen on November 17, 1967 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. She worked as a nurse for 30 plus years before joining Jim in starting their own company, Technical Arts. She was a life-long member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and youth group leader. Clara was an accomplished and skilled nurse who excelled under the high demands of caring for ICU patients. She enjoyed rose gardening, reading true-crime stories, and spending time outside. Clara was fair, honest, and compassionate; with a remarkable sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Joseph) Slenkai and Jennifer (John) Frahm; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; grandson, Wyatt Frahm; brothers, Bill (Arlene) Lahn, Robert (JoAnn) Lahn, and Richard Lahn; and sister, Theresa (Ray) Norton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 30, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church from 10:30 -11:30 AM with funeral services to follow at 11:30 AM with Rev. Larry Gorlitz officiating.
All are welcome to attend. It is requested that social distancing guidelines be observed. Note that masks are optional at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Burial will be at the Newton Cemetery in Newton Township, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 349 Capital Ave. NE.
