Obituary for Walter May

Walter E. May departed this life on Monday, December 14, 2020 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He was born on February 6, 1959, to O’shield and Flora May in Battle Creek, MI, both preceded him in death. Walter graduated from Battle Creek Central, class of 1977. Shortly after graduation, Walter enlisted and served 4 years in the U.S. Marine traveling abroad to Japan. After returning from the Marine’s, he attended Kellogg Community College and worked several contract jobs during his lifetime.
Walter loved doing carpentry work for friends and family members. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, cooking, and listening to his old school music. He attended First Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Battle Creek, Michigan. Walter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sisters, Patricia A. (Johnny) Gatson of Lansing, MI, Frances E. Freeman (Mark) of Lansing, MI, and Brenda (Melvin) May-Dixon of Spring, TX; nephew, Christopher Gatson; nieces, Nakita Harden, Brittney (Andre) Collins-Riddle, Mia Dixon, and Mariah Dixon; six great nieces; two great nephews; special brother, Eddie May; Aunt, Wanda V. Neal of Pine Bluff, AR; God Mother, Patricia Jackson of Battle Creek, MI; special cousin, Alvin Bonds of Lansing, MI; and a host of relatives & friends.
Visitation will be held at Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Monday, December 28th from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM with a procession of 25 people maximum to Ft. Custer National Cemetery for a committal service and military honors at 2:00 PM.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure…you are loved beyond words, and missed beyond measure. Love you always, Pat, Frances, and Brenda.
