Larry Deo Inman, 71, of Battle Creek, passed away at home peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. He was born June 21, 1949 in Battle Creek, the son of Deo and Leatha (Purdy) Inman. Larry graduated from Harper Creek High School, class of 1967. He excelled in many sports but was an exceptional baseball player. After high school Larry attended Kellogg Community College before serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Larry was a Sergeant in the Army and was awarded many medals. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. Larry retired from Kellogg Company after 31 years of service and was a member of the 25 Year Club. Larry enjoyed golfing, fishing, and gardening, and was an avid sports fan. He was a dedicated Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions fan. He also enjoyed watching Nascar, basketball, and all types of sports. His hobbies included building bird houses, watching and learning about many types of birds. Larry loved nature and he was a true animal lover. Larry had a heart of gold and was a kind and generous soul. Even in his passing he made sure that his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others would live on. Per Larry’s wishes his assets will go toward creating a scholarship fund to help Harper Creek graduates as well as a generous donation will be made to Binder Park Zoo.
Larry will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by a sister; nieces and nephews; and many dearly loved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Deo and Leatha Inman who meant the world to him. Larry was a very devoted son.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 4th at 1:00 PM Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Emmett Township, MI.
