Paul Edward Maher, age 78, passed away December 1st, 2020 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born February 14th, 1942 in Chicago, IL son of Edward and Bernice (Dempsey) Maher. He was married to Rosa Lee Ruby, who preceded him in death.
Paul served in the US Army from 1962-1965. He worked in maintenance at Eaton Corporation. He also worked as the Executive Chef of Fountains at Bronson Place.
Paul found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He enjoyed spending time creating projects and woodworking. If he wasn’t working on a project, you could find him in the kitchen working on mastering his next great recipe. He enjoyed being outdoors; in particular fishing. He loved going to the movies to see Star Wars and Harry Potter. He had a quick wit and was always good for cracking a joke and making you smile.
He is survived by his children: Katherine (Doug) Giles, Jovoane (Mike McGinnis) Maher-Lawrence, Michelle (Curtis) Harris, Melissa (Roy) Saugie, Sonya Boer, and Travis (Stacy) Maher. Grandchildren: Jennifer, Spencer, Justin, Lewis, Nikki, Josh, Haley, Kenneth, Krystal, Vincent, Kalin, Cameron, Jessica, Cole, Dylan, Lula, and Theron. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son: Cole Maher, a grandson: Ian Lawrence, and his first wife Jean Ann (Swenson) Maher.
The family will be holding a private memorial service for the immediate family, but plans to receive extended family and friends in the spring when Paul is interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
