Rudolph Harold Hoffman, Jr. 74, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born March 26, 1946 in Detroit, MI the son of Rudolph Harold Hoffman Sr. and Helen Rose (Janefski) Hoffman.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1963 and was discharged on 8/31/1983 at Ft Sheridan, IL. While in the Army he served 3 tours of duty, he received the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Air Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for Korea, the Good Conduct Medal (the 6th award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm, and Valorous Unit Award.
Rudolph was an avid history buff and loved watching Detroit sports, especially the Red Wings and the Michigan Spartans. His real passion was being a Veterans Advocate. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and a 4th degree black belt.
He married Kathleen Marie Rockman on February 2, 1989 in Southgate, MI.
He is survived by his wife: Kathleen Marie (Rockman) Hoffman of Battle Creek, MI; Two daughters: Katrina (Martin) Martinez of Battle Creek and Catturina (Scott) Jacuik. Rudy also leaves behind four Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father Rudolph Hoffman Sr. and his mother Helen Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2020 at 2:30 PM at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. Military Honors provided by the Fort Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard.
