Laurel L. Robertson, 75, of Battle Creek, MI passed away Saturday, October 31st at her home. She was born July 18, 1945 in Albion, MI to Ralph S. Sr, and Bethel J. (Buckland) Robertson. Laurel graduated from Bellevue High School in 1963. She became a registered Medical Technologist; working 40 years until her retirement in 2007. She was a member of her church; active in both Suzanna Circle, and Sunday school.
She is survived by her youngest sister Cherie Esposito of Milwaukee, WI, Sister-in-Law Sharen (Jones) Robertson of Delton, MI, six nieces, two nephews, ten great nieces, four great nephews, and a community of children who will remember the Fairy Godmother of Leila Arboretum.
She enjoyed, and was enjoyed by her family. Each Christmas she would gather them in her small house to teach about the family heritage, and pass out gifts (despite the strict “no-gifting” policy) tidbits of knowledge, and handcrafted treasures accompanied by her renown pumpkin cookies. She was a “great aunt” long before the next generation of nieces and nephews were born to make that title official. All of the holidays were special at Aunt Laurel’s house, but none so much as Easter. Each year the extended family would gather around the kitchen table to color Easter Eggs. There was always a new technique to try; along with the tried-and-true Humpty Dumpty eggs and their dives off the table; and that one last egg, that just couldn’t be found, tucked away in the herb garden—another of her great loves.
It is difficult for her family to imagine life without her in it, worrying over each us, but we are grateful that the Lord has spared her from suffering and welcomed her home.
Due to COVID-19 and the rise in numbers in Calhoun County Laurel’s family has chosen to hold a private memorial service at this time. Memorial contributions may be given to The Children’s Garden at Leila Arboretum. Arrangements by Bachman Hebble Funeral Service (269) 965-5145.

I remember Laurel during our Community years and how glad I was to see her come to draw blood ...always cheerful and calming to patients. She was a precious soul. Nothing seemed to ruffle her . Prayers to her family for comfort during this difficult time.

Laurel was one of a kind. The mold that God made of Laurel can never be duplicated. Her knowledge of sharing and caring in every situation was incredible. She always made some sort of special gift for the Susanna Circle ladies. The last one was a handkerchief with verses of Christian songs. All printed and in different colors of ink. I think it must have taken hours and hours to do 9 of the hankies but she enjoyed doing for others. She always had a rose, a carnation or plants to plant for each member of the circle at various times. She was just a grand person to be around. I will miss her. We haven't had meetings or dinners at church since March so really missed her smiling face and soft voice. So with this I say rest in peace faithful servant. You deserve it. What a joy it will be to one day meet again.

Laurel was wonderful lady that will be deeply missed in our church family. She wore many hats over the years and was dedicated to each job she took on. I will miss her smiling face and am sure it is glowing in God’s presence.
