It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Katherine Traylor, age 94, of Battle Creek, MI, announces the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, cousin and friend on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at her home here in Battle Creek.
She was born September 29, 1925 in Franklin, GA the daughter of Robert Walter Dukes and Fannie L. Burden. She received her education from the public schools in Franklin, GA.
Katherine had worked for 6 years as a nurse's Aide for the Mary Brace Nursing Home and afterwards she left to become a full time mother and housewife.
She is survived by six sons: Ralph Lee and Pamela Traylor; Roy Lee Traylor; Terry Ross & Debora Traylor; Jerry Ross & Michele Traylor; Ricky James Traylor; Joseph W. Traylor all of Battle Creek, MI; four Daughters: Shirley Ann Sweet of Tulsa, OK ; Julia Lee & James F. Sheppard of Battle Creek, MI; LuGenia Traylor of Battle Creek, MI; Victoria Kay Traylor of Battle Creek, MI; 26 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren; one brother: Charlie Benjamin & Erma Jean Dukes of Franklin, GA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She married Charlie James Traylor in Franklin GA on November 4, 1942; however he passed away March 27, 1979. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister: LuGenia Dukes; four brothers: Milton Dukes; T.V. Dukes; Willie Dukes; Johnny Dukes; and one grandson: Diablo White.
She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, sewing, cooking for her large family, listening to Gospel music, and raising her children and grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 where the family will be present from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. This will be a time of family to greet friends, just a reminder to wear a facial mask and keep social distancing as we can allow only ten individuals at this time in the funeral home. Private family committal services will be held Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Lisa Traylor, speaker of the Christ Temple – East. Burial of cremated remains will be next to her husband at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek, MI. Arrangements by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, a member by invitation Selected Independent Funeral Homes.
