Juanita Sue Hicks
It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Juanita Sue Hicks, age 47, of Dowling, MI announces the unexpected passing of our dear wife, daughter, mother sister, grandmother and friends, she died on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Bronson Battle Creek in Battle Creek, MI.
She was born July 26, 1972 in Kankakee, IL the daughter of William Coriell and Wanda (Howard) Coriell.
She graduated with a GED from Pennfield High School. Juanita was a homemaker, caregiver to her grandson, mother, and loving wife. For three years she had been a medical assistant in occupational health department for the former Battle Creek Health System.
She married James Jay Hicks on March 29, 2008 in Battle Creek, MI.
She is survived by her husband: James Jay Hicks of Dowling, MI; mother: Wanda (Howard) Rabbers of Battle Creek, MI; two daughters: Chelsea Berry of Dowling, MI and Shyann Berry of Hastings, MI; her son: James Berry of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters: Danielle Smith of Kalamazoo, MI; Kristi & Davie Hopkins of Bloomington, Illinois, and Stacey Coriell of Louisiana; and her grandson: Christopher Coriell of Dowling, MI.
She relished the time periods she could care for her grandson, she liked caring for other people, she enjoyed shopping, she loved University of Michigan football, she was hooked on law enforcement and Police shows on TV like Live PD on A&E.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2020 where the family will be present and social distancing from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the Bachman Funeral Chapel on July 2, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Jeffrey Worden officiating. Mindful of the executive orders, no more than 10 people are allowed in the funeral home at one time. And please remember to wear face masks for your protection and others. Burial will follow at the Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield Twp., MI.
