Obituary

Norman Lincoln Ward, 95, of Battle Creek, passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Medilodge in Marshall, MI. He was born March 22, 1925 in Highland Park, the son of Graydon and Irma (Beck) Ward. Norm served in the US Army. He married Kay Soloman on October 30, 1948 in Battle Creek. Kay preceded Norm in death in 2018. Norm retired from MI Bell after 20 plus years of service. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and golfing and he was a very handy mechanic. Norm volunteered for many years out at Ft. Custer National Cemetery replacing the flag poles, flags, and hoisting and lowering the flags every season. He was a member of the Delton Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post #484. He loved woodworking, playing cards, and wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Norm was a kind soul that had a big heart and would help anyone in need.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Ward and Gary Ward; grandchildren, Ben (Bobbie Jo) Ward, Tim (Ashley) Ward, Eric Ward, Tyler (Heather) Ward, and Tiffany Ward; great grandchildren, Ethan Lee, Daniel, Allen, Cameron, Liberty Kay, and Jax; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kay; infant sons, Allen Ward and David Ward; and sister, Virginia Albrecht.
Memorial tributes may be made to Oaklawn Hospice in Marshall, MI. Arrangements by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. (269)965-5145 www.bachmanhebble.com

Norman was my uncle, my mother Virginia Albrecht's brother. As a child, I went to visit Uncle Norman and Aunt Harlene at their lakeside home. Uncle Norman introduced me to the fun of riding in his boat on the adjacent lake.

Much later in life, Uncle Norman and Aunt Harlene made the long road trip to my home here in Medusa, NY and was part of a family work crew to get my old farm house livable. He put my back porch on and stayed with us for several days . It was a wonderful reunion for us all.....Will miss him greatly!
