Bryan Charles Dandenault, 80, of Battle Creek, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020. He was born September 29, 1939 in Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canadian Pride) the son of Dr. Augustus Gaston and Winnifred Elizabeth (McGrath) Dandenault. Bryan married Amy Hice in April 1984. He graduated with a Juris Doctorate in law from University of Detroit in 1966. Bryan practiced law at his office in Battle Creek until 2015. Bryan enjoyed canoeing, camping, cooking, and hosting parties/holidays for his family and friends. The water was BD’s happy place. He grew up on the Red River in Canada, paddled all over the country, boated on the great lakes, and at our home on St. Mary’s lake. Bryan was always making us laugh with silly hats, practical jokes, and 6th grade humor. He was kind, generous, quick-witted, and cared about his family deeply. Bryan was the life of the party and the host with the most. He was a great cook and loved food. He volunteered at God’s Kitchen, the Maple United Methodist food pantry, and the VA Medical Center. Bryan was a founding member of the Pine River Bar Association, enjoying many canoe and rafting trips. In 2016 he was the Calhoun County Bar Association recipient of the Sheldon and Sadie Penn Community Service Award. He was a 40+ year member at the Battle Creek YMCA and a competitive racquet ball player.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Dandenault; children, Patrick (Natalia), Michael, Samuel (Christy), and Ian; grandchildren, Sona, Zoe, August, & Mila Dandenault, and Jackson & Luke Hamilton; sister, Lynne Frary; brother-in-law, Dale Mood; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Maureen Mood.
According to Bryan’s wishes his body will be donated to medical science and at this time there will not be any services. Bryan loved to feed people; any charitable donations may be made to the Food Bank of South-Central Michigan. Arrangements by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. (269)965-5145 www.bachmanhebble.com
