Nancy Lou Anderson, age 85 years old, of Battle Creek passed away Friday, May 29, 2020 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility of natural causes.
Nancy was born July 14, 1934 to Boyden Maximoff and Nada (Voocheva) Maximoff in Battle Creek, Michigan. Her parents had immigrated to the United States from Bulgaria.
Nancy graduated from Battle Creek Central with the class of 1952.
On July 3, 1952 she was united in marriage to Raymond Arthur Anderson. This marriage ended in divorce.
On March 14, 1963 she was united in marriage to Richard W. Sechrist. This marriage ended in divorce.
Nancy worked for the Air Force at the National Guard base in Battle Creek where she was responsible for the housing for the members of the Air Force and the Dispensary.
Nancy received her Bachelor Degree from Western Michigan University in Social Work when she was in her 40’s and was very proud of her accomplishment. She then worked for the State of Michigan in the Department of Social Services. From which she retired from. Nancy was not afraid of any situation and often told of being sent into homes where no one else would go to make sure the children were being taken care of. After she retired, she worked as a receptionist for Health & Energy, PC in Battle Creek for many years.
Nancy also attended the Kushi Institute. This was a cooking school in Boston, MA where she learned about Macrobiotics. She felt that her time in Boston at this school was the happiest time of her life. She was also a student of Homeopathy.
Nancy operated a cooking school in her home at 1790 Highland Blvd. She taught macrobiotic cooking.
Her hobbies included her cats, cooking, traveling, music, camping and she loved to dance.
She was very proud of her Bulgarian heritage and had a very giving heart.
She was pre-deceased by her Father, Mother Step-Father and sister Martha Wedel.
She is survived by her son, Robert Allan Anderson of Battle Creek and her daughter Rene Adele of Brunswick, Maine. Her sister Anita Shute of Washington state and two nieces.
There will be a Private Visitation and Private Graveside Services on Thursday, June 4th, 2020.
