Lelsie Carr passed peacefully in his sleep and lost his battle with lung cancer on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Les was born at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL to Leslie and Agnes Marie Carr. He graduated from Limestone High School in Bartonville, IL in 1970. In 1971 He and his best friend Rick Russell joined the Marine Corps. and started training in California. He served at several posts in his 11-year career, including Camp LeJeune, the Marine Air Station at Beaufort, SC, the Philippines, Iwakuni, Japan, and Nashville, TN. In 1982 he left the Marines with the rank of Sgt. as an Admin Chief. In 1983 he moved to Yukon, OK where he worked for Firestone Tire Company as a warehouse clerk. In 1989 he moved to Battle Creek, MI and took classes at Kellogg Community College. He worked at TRMI for over 20 years. In 1993 he married his wife, Mary Kay, at Fair Lake near Delton. They recently celebrated their 26 anniversary.
He is survived by his wife; stepchildren: Mark (Gail) Dittenber of Bedford, TX and Dawn Brotherton of Vinita, OK; granddaughters: Ellise Carpenter of Carmel, IN and Kathryn (King) Ramirez of Sulphur, OK; sister, Rosemarie (Dean) Huffstutler of Mt. Vernon, IL; brother, Gary Carr of Bartonville, IL; and nephews: Joseph Carr of Tulsa, OK, Dustin Huffstutler of Mt. Vernon, IL and Jacob (Juliana) Huffstutler of Plymouth, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Gail Carr; sister-in-law, Diane Carr; and son-in-law, Michael Brotherton.
A committal service for Mr. Carr will be held April 22, 2020 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Wounded Warriors. Arrangements by Bachman Hebble Funeral Service (269) 965-5145.
