Obituary for Richard Rodney Bennett

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Richard Rodney Bennett age 53 announces the peaceful passing of our dear husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend on May 3, 2019 at their home in Battle Creek, MI.
He was born May 15, 1965 in Battle Creek, MI the son of Forest Bennett and Joy (Templeton) Bennett.
Richard was a graduate of Battle Creek Central in 1983 and attended 2 years of college. He then went into the service. In the Army he was a special operations master interrogator for the 82nd Army Airborne. He served in the US Army from1991 until an honorable discharge in September 1994 from the Presido in Monterrey, CA. serving as Special Operation Master Interrogator with the 82nd Army Airborne. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, Parachutist badge, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Marksman Badge with Rifle and Grenade component Bars, Driver and Mechanic Badge.
After the military service he became a carpenter; he was a master carpenter owning his own company which he named it "Milestone Enterprises". He built many houses in the New York area for 20 years. In his free time Richard enjoyed fishing, working in his vegetable garden, and the special moments he shared with his wife.
He married Kathleen “Kathy” Patterer in Battle Creek, MI on March 28, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife and Best friend: Kathleen "Kathy" Bennett of Battle Creek; his son: Richard R. Bennett, Jr. of Minerva, NY; his daughter: Dakota Bennett of Minerva, New York; a special nephew: Christopher Bennett of Battle Creek; his brother Gary & Deb Bennett of Big Rapids, MI; his sister: Tonia Bennett of Battle Creek, MI and many other nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Forest Bennett.
Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 where the family will be present 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Fort Custer National Cemetery conducted by the Fort Custer Honor Guard. Burial of cremated remains will be laid to rest in the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
