Dr. Harold J. Mohlman, DDS
Dr. Harold J. Mohlman, DDS age 85, of Battle Creek, MI, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter in Marshall, MI on Monday, February 11, 2019.
He was born September 13, 1933 in Platteville, WI the son of Harry C. Mohlman and Erma (Popp) Mohlman.
He received his commission in the US Air Force on 11/1/1957 at Platteville, WI; retiring from the Michigan Air National Guard as a Lt. Colonel in 1981.
He was in private dental practice in Battle Creek from 1958 until he retired in 1993,.
He developed and patented a special technique for filling cavities.
He married Jeanne Hosking on August 31, 1957 in Platteville, Wisconsin; however Jeanne passed away in 2011.
He is survived by two sons: Brian Mohlman of Battle Creek, MI; Barry (Suzie LaPage) Mohlman of Roy, UT; two daughters: Elizabeth Probol of Battle Creek, MI; Gay "Marie" (Ed) Dennis of Marshall, MI; two sisters: Eileen Dresser of Madison, WI, Ruth (David) Rogers of Menomonee Falls, WI; fourteen grandchildren: Kayla Mohlman, Michael Mohlman, Andrew Mohlman, Jonathan Probol, Ashley Probol, Nicholas Probol, Jaime Probol, Marisa Mohlman, Hope Mohlman, Caleb Knight, Sarah Knight, Kasie Conklin, Michael Conklin, Alecia Dennis; and three great granddaughter: Emma Conklin, Lilly and Alexzander Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jeanne A Mohlman, his grandson: Michael Blackful, his brother: Arnold Mohlman Dec. 24, 2018.
He came to Battle Creek from Wisconsin in 1958. He graduated in 1951 from Platteville (Wisconsin) High School, attended University of Wisconsin in Madison, and graduated in 1957, graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee from Dental School in 1957.
He was a former member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served alternating duties from President to Vice President then back to President for 16 years, he also was a youth counselor, and sang in the choir for many years. He is a current member of the Pennfield Presbyterian Church, has served as elder on the church governing board and sings in the choir. He was a member of the Gideon’s International for many years, Southwest Michigan Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis where he taught for 4 years "but you never realized he was there."
He was the 110th T.A.C. Clinic of the Michigan Air National Guard Commander for 6 years, Air Surgeons Advisory Council in Washington, DC for four years. He received the National Medical Service Officer of the Year award in 1972 from the National Guard Bureau at Washington, DC (the competition for that award was among over 8000 people and he was the first dentist to ever receive this award at the time.)
He enjoyed daily runs up and down Pennfield Road and was a recognized celebrity of runner for years. He also enjoyed scuba diving, boating, singing and vacationing in the winters from 1991-97 spent in Key Largo, Florida. Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 where the family will be present from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held in the Bachman Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Rogers of the Town North Presbyterian Church PCA of Wisconsin officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Ft. Custer National Cemetery Honor Guard will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to: SSG Michael A.
